The 24 Hr. Quilt-A-Thon which was cancelled on Saturday., Jan. 19th & Sunday, Jan. 20th has been rescheduled to Saturday, Feb. 23rd to Sunday, Feb. 24th.
Quilting for a Cause NJ is a community organization in Pequannock Township that makes quilts for the homeless and others in need. The mission began at Rosemary Phalon's house in January 2017, with 11 quilts made on that first day. The organization completed 703 quilts in 2017 and 966 quilts in 2018.
The quilts are made from 100% cotton. The organization is requesting donated materials--fabric, thread and quilt batting. Quilts have been distributed all over New Jersey and New York, in 26 different states, and to 5 other countries. The goal is to place quilts in all 50 states. To celebrate their second anniversary, Quilting for a Cause will hold their second annual 24 hour Sew-a-Thon at Holy Spirit School from 9 am, Saturday, Feb. 23rd to Sunday, Feb. 24th at 9 am. Volunteers are needed to sort and organize fabric, press, pin and sew quilts. No sewing or quilting experience is necessary.
The students from Holy Spirit School will be helping, and we need parents and members of the Parish to help. All materials will be provided to volunteers. Meals will be provided throughout the day and night by local restaurants. Please check our website QuiltingforaCauseNJ.org or email Rosemaryphalon@gmail.com. All are welcome to come and join in for a few hours, or as long as you like.
